Technical Specifications :

1. Specifications / Design

Kankirit Box Culverts are designed with durability and efficiency in mind, providing reliable drainage and water management solutions for various infrastructure needs. These precast concrete box culverts are engineered to meet diverse applications, including roadways, waterways, and stormwater systems.

Key Features:

  • Sizes and Applications: Available in various sizes to accommodate residential, commercial, and industrial projects.

  • Structural Strength: Built to withstand high load demands and harsh environmental conditions.

  • Customizable Design:

    • Internal Dimensions: Range from 600 mm x 900 mm to 2000 mm x 2000 mm.

    • Thickness: Wall thickness varies between 200 mm and 300 mm, based on load requirements.

    • Length: Standard length of 1000 mm to 2000 mm.

  • Materials: Made using durable concrete (M30 - M40 grade) with Fe500 reinforcement to ensure high performance.

  • Load Handling: Designed for both medium-duty (for lateral and hydrostatic pressures) and heavy-duty applications (direct heavy vehicular loads).

2. Manufacturing Method

Kankirit Box Culverts are precast using advanced manufacturing techniques to ensure quality, precision, and durability.

Process Overview:

  1. Concrete Casting: High-grade concrete with a low water-cement ratio is poured into steel precast molds.

  2. Reinforcement: Fe500 grade rebar is pre-placed and secured within the molds to ensure structural integrity.

  3. Vibration and Consolidation: Form vibrators are used to consolidate the concrete, ensuring homogeneity and eliminating trapped air.

  4. Quality Testing:

    • Concrete undergoes slump tests and cube strength tests to meet performance standards.

    • Post-demolding, a thorough inspection is conducted to detect and address voids, cracks, or honeycombing.

  5. Finishing: Products are cured for strength development and prepared for installation.

Any batch that does not meet quality parameters is rejected to ensure only top-quality products are delivered.

3. Installation

Kankirit Box Culverts are designed for efficient and straightforward installation, minimizing time and effort on-site.

Installation Steps:

  1. Excavation and Base Preparation:

    • Excavate the site and level the base to align box culverts properly.

    • If the water table is high, employ dewatering techniques to clear water from the trench zone.

  2. Placing and Jointing:

    • Culverts are equipped with lifting anchors for precise placement.

    • Male/Female joints are provided to ensure easy sliding and locking during assembly.

    • Joints can be made watertight using seals, rubber rings, joint wraps, or grouts as required.

  3. Backfilling and Compaction:

    • Granular soil is backfilled layer by layer, starting from the sidewalls and moving upwards.

    • Each layer is compacted to achieve the required density, ensuring long-term stability.

  4. Custom Curves and Adjustments:

    • Bends can be designed during manufacturing to accommodate curved pathways.
